It's finally warming up here in Southern New Hampshire and we've already been sending homeowners on their way with brand new gas grills! With the start of grill season, there's always a great debate regarding what type of grill reigns king: Gas or charcoal.

At our outdoor patio furniture and grilling supply company, we may be biased, but gas is the way to go! Here are some reasons why:
  • Convenience.  If you're cooking for your family after getting home from a long day at work, a gas grill is so much more convenient than a charcoal one; there's no having to wait around for the grill to get hot.
  • Speed.  Not only will a gas grill heat up faster, but also end up cooking your food quickly and evenly. The gas grills properly disperse the heat so that every part of your food is cooked to your liking.
  • Control.  Simply flip a switch or turn a dial and the temperature of your grill will change almost instantaneously. With charcoal grills it's difficult to cool things down, and in a situation where a grease fire occurs, gas grills are more responsive and safe.
  • Cleanliness.  No more needing to empty the charcoal grill of spent coals. Instead, gas grills dispel hardly any ash and they are easier to clean the grill surface.
Our gas grill and patio furniture company offers homeowners in the Southern New Hampshire area with an extensive collection of gas grills from the best name brands in the industry. Choose from the following:

It's porch chilling season and you're probably thinking about upgrading your old porch furniture in light of something new and trendy. The problem is: there's so much to choose from! There are hundreds of different styles and colors that it can be overwhelming to even start looking.

If you're feeling lost on your hunt for new porch furniture, start by deciding on what type of  material  you want on your deck or porch this season. Here are your options:
  • Aluminum.  This is a lightweight and durable material that won't rust or fade. It's also affordable and cleaning it is a breeze (soapy water). Note that aluminum is often powder coated, so be sure to get pieces with UV-resistant finishes and rust-proof nuts and bolts.
  • Plastic/Polymer/Resin.  Again another lightweight and affordable material, plastic-based porch furniture also comes in dozens of colors. What's great about these materials is that they are stackable and don't require painting or resealing. To wash, simply use soap and water.
  • Steel.  Sturdy and durable, steel porch furniture may be heavy, but at least you can rest assured it won't go anywhere in the event of a storm. One issue is that steel can become hot to the touch, so we recommend purchasing weather-resistant cushions. Be sure that if your furniture isn't stainless steel that you add a protective finish to it every season to prevent rust.
  • Wicker/Rattan.  Wicker porch furniture is great for those who want a more rustic, cottage feel for their outdoor space. Wicker furniture is lightweight and comfortable and can be used in indoor or outdoor spaces. If your wicker furniture is painted, be sure to wash the pieces wish care by opting for gentle cleansing soap and a non-abrasive cloth or sponge.
  • Wood.  Solid, sturdy and long-lasting, wood is always a go-to for porch furniture. What's great about wood is that it doesn't absorb heat, so you can leave that Adirondack chair out in the sun as long as you want! Unfortunately wood furniture can be pricey, but it's worth the investment. Note that you may have to repaint the furniture if it came painted, or apply a preservative to protect it from insects and rot. We recommend storing wood furniture in the garage or basement during the winter.
  • Wrought Iron.  Another sturdy type of material, wrought iron is heavy but can easily withstand the New England elements. Wrought iron pieces can be made very intricately and are available in multiple styles. Keep in mind that each piece will need to be protected against rust. Clean easily with mild soap and rinse thoroughly.
Interesting in seeing what your options are for each of these porch furniture materials? Head over to our location at 114 Lafayette Road in Hampton Falls NH.

If you're looking to do some serious "porch chilling" with friends and family this summer, then you're going to need the furniture to accommodate all those people. Whether you have a patio or deck, large or small, there are some pieces you just shouldn't do without this season. Here is our patio furniture company's list of recommendations:

  • Table & Chair Set.  If it's nice enough to grill outside on the patio, then it's certainly nice enough to eat outside on the patio! As such, you'll want to make sure you have a table and chair set. Our outdoor furniture company has plenty of options to choose from at all pricepoints. We recommend weather-resistant materials so that you can continue to enjoy your table and chair set for many seasons to come.
  • Lounge & Patio Chairs.  Whether you're going for the rustic Adirondack chairs or the more cushioned chairs, it's always great to have a few patio chairs lying around for guests to pull up in front of a fire pit. Alternative Energy Hearth & Patio Shoppe has dozens of furniture cushion options that are both stylish and weather resistant; we guarantee there's a pattern or color you'll love!
  • Love Seat.  Two seated outdoor sofas or even three seated sofas are a great option for homeowners who have a larger patio or deck space. Love seats are perfect for more intimate conversations with friends and family as you enjoy your backyard space.
  •   Coffee Table.  If you have an outdoor living space with seats or couches, it's probably a good idea to include a coffee table as well! Simply talk to one of our employees about what you like grilling, how large your patio or deck space is, as well as how many people you intend to feed on a regular basis and we'll choose the best model and brand for you.

In the winter, fireplace inserts provide elegance, warmth and efficiency of a wood-burning fireplace with less work. One of the benefits about having a gas fireplace or stove is that it will light during a power outage since it doesn’t require electricity!  A gas fireplace will offer a sense of relief when it comes to wondering where your heat is going to come from in the case of a power outage.

A wood stove or insert is a great opportunity to stop heating your home with oil can as well as reduce your home heating costs. When the insert is not in, the closed air tight glass doors will not allow the heated inside air from breaking out through the chimney and will also stop cold outdoor air from getting into the home. For a wooden fireplace insert, they are also easier to clean out and use during the winter months.

It’s important that during the winter months you are prepared for any snow storms that could result in losing power in your home.  If you're interested in getting a gas or wood stove or insert for your home this winter, contact us today at 603-926-0388 or fill out our contact form online!

One of the best parts of winter is getting to stay warm and cozy up by a fireplace in your home. With winter being only a couple months away, now is the perfect time to make sure your fireplace or fireplace insert is in the best condition possible.

With wood fireplaces or inserts, you should make sure to clean out the firebox with a vacuum and clean out any grime buildup on the walls of your fireplace or in the opening into the chimney.

If you have a wood stove in your home, it’s vital that you inspect it for any cracks in the bricks and in the metal before winter comes. When checking your door gasket, make sure that the seal is secured. If your door isn't tightly secured, smoke could get into your home and lose heat.

It’s important that during the winter you make sure that you properly remove ash that has built up. This also applies to pellet stoves, you will want to remove the combustion and distribution fans then vacuum out all the residue and soot.

When you own a gas fireplace it’s nice and easy because you don’t have to worry about cleaning up any ash. However, you will want to do a full inspection and check if there are any cracks or scratches on the glass. When the glass is scratched, the high heat can cause it to shatter.

If you’re in need of repairs for your fireplace or insert, contact us today at 603-926-0388 or fill out our contact form online!
